Born on Third Base Blog Post #1 I found Born on Third Base enjoyable and interesting to read because of how it explores the major issue of inequality in our society. I love Chapter 2 and how it talks about the importance of having empathy within our society for those who are impacted by the consequences of social inequality. I was reminded by how I should always have a sense of gratitude because "if you live in the United States, you are probably in the top 5 or 10 percent globally". I was inspired by how it says that individuals with more economic resources have significant power to make a change and to help resolve the issue of social inequality. As I am pursuing a career in the entertainment industry, I hope I can help produce movies that will talk about issues like this and motivate change. I am liberal and I believe that everyone has to pay taxes. Chapter 4 caught my attention when it talked about the time that Collins was a guest speaker on a conservative radio...
Random Post #2 I absolutely love running on the open road. I enjoy waking up early to map out a new road for myself. I try to find a trail that is both challenging yet fun. It's like trying a new adventure every day. My run does not always go exactly to my plan for the day because I might decide to try a new path that I discover along the way. My favorite spots to run are at the beach because of the cool weather and ocean breeze. I love taking my dog along for the trip because he keeps me motivated to not stop running. No matter where I run, I always feel a sense of peace. I think one of the major reasons why I love running is because I find it to be the ultimate stress reliever. Running allows me to put all of my worries aside and focus on the road at hand. From the beat of my IPod's music to the various trees I pass, I take in all of my surroundings as I run. Every time I run, I feel a sense of gratitude and happiness with my life. Running reminds me to slow down and b...
My Life on The Road Post #2 I find it interesting and inspiring that the author does not own a car "because adventure starts the moment [she] leaves [her] door". I love that she does not have any plan for the day, but just lets life happen and takes it as it is. I am more of a person who needs structure and can sometimes get too caught up in a certain plan of how things "should" go. I have and still am learning to let go of my perception of how things "should" go and just rely on my faith in God to take care of it. I have heard about how mindfulness, or focusing on the present, contributes to one's happiness and I believe this is true. When I forget what I want to happen and focus on and appreciate what I have right now instead, I feel grateful and at peace. I love how the author talks about the positive aspects of public transportation and how it's an opportunity to meet a diverse range of people. Public transportation allows us to learn abou...

My Life on The Road Blog Post #1 My Life on the Road is an interesting book that I am enjoying. I may not have the same exact story as hers regarding how her father influenced her travels, but I can relate to her. I have a close relationship with my father who travels a great amount. He is a Disney Executive who has been to the Disney Parks in Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Florida, and here in California. I have only been able to be apart of his journeys in the United States, but they have inspired me to pursue traveling in my future career. Despite never having been out of the country, I want to learn about and experience the various cultures around the world. It is one of my dreams. I want to crisscross the paths my father has taken in the countries he has visited. I differ from the reader in that she was longed for a home. I have never felt that way because I have always defined my home in the strong relationship I have with my family and with my faith in God. I can be hu...

Random Blog Post Wonder Woman is one of my favorite movie for its portrayal of a strong woman leading role. I feel that every young woman should watch this movie because it teaches that real strength is in loving others. She is deeply sympathetic and concerned for those who are suffering during World War II. When she sees limping soldiers and struggling families, she has an urgency to stop and help them. She has the courage to say "no" when she is told that she can't help everyone in the war. I love that she defies that statement and stands up for the innocent. Wonder Woman also has a side of vulnerability. She truly loves Steve Trevor and when he sacrifices himself for the greater good, she is in evident agony. When she is faced with killing the woman behind creating the ultimate killing weapon chemistry, she demonstrates immense grace by sparing her life. She remembers the love that Steve Trevor showed her and is able to forgive her. She is then able to combat the...
