My Life on The Road Blog Post #1
My Life on the Road is an interesting book that I am enjoying. I may not have the same exact story as hers regarding how her father influenced her travels, but I can relate to her. I have a close relationship with my father who travels a great amount. He is a Disney Executive who has been to the Disney Parks in Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Florida, and here in California. I have only been able to be apart of his journeys in the United States, but they have inspired me to pursue traveling in my future career. Despite never having been out of the country, I want to learn about and experience the various cultures around the world. It is one of my dreams. I want to crisscross the paths my father has taken in the countries he has visited.
I differ from the reader in that she was longed for a home. I have never felt that way because I have always defined my home in the strong relationship I have with my family and with my faith in God. I can be hundreds of miles away from them yet they are with me because they are always in my heart. I want to travel because I want to learn more about our world and be more equipped to play a more active role in it for positive change. I love the Robin Morgan quote the author uses, "hate generalizes, love specifies". As the quote states, I want to better understand various cultures and issues around the world in order for me to better love and serve others.
