Born on Third Base Post #2
I find Born on Third Base a fascinating book and I like what it has to say about the growing issues of climate change and wealth inequality in Chapter 12. There are increasing greenhouse gasses within our atmosphere and an increasing inconsideration for our environment's health. It's sad to see how the wealthiest fossil fuel companies benefit at our earth's expense. I am moved by this chapter because I feel strongly about protecting the environment. I feel that it is important to care about the environment because it is for the sake of our society's health, especially those who are poverty and live in poor areas that are more affected by the consequences of climate change. I believe it's especially important to teach the younger generation about these values and how the environment impacts us. This chapter reminded me of when I was a part of the children's ministry and how on one day, I taught them about the blessing of God's beautiful and majestic earth that he gave to us and we must not take for granted.

I believe that Chapter 18 spoke to me the most because it talks about how the wealthier have the power to use their special privileges to institute significant change. I strive to be rooted in a sense of gratitude and humility and I think it allows me to better sympathize with others. My experience with volunteering with Real Life Church's Meals For Homeless has allowed me to be more understanding to those in poverty and to be motivated by empathy to help them.
