The Immigrant Wonder Woman Brooklyn’s Unsung Heroine Every Young Woman Should Know About This year’s Wonder Woman arrived to theaters beating out not only her enemies on the screen, but also her competitors at the box office. The movie has become the highest grossing live-action film directed by a woman earning more than $609.8 million (Lang). Wonder Woman is just one film that is a part of this new cinematic generation’s hottest trend of strong-leading female roles. In 2016, there was a record number of 29% of the top 100 films at the U.S. Box Office possessing female-lead roles (Pallota). One notable film embodying this women-empowerment trend that may have fallen under the radar is 2015’s Brooklyn with its “superhero” Eilis. Brooklyn tells the story of Irish immigrant Eilis who is moving away from the comforts of her home in Ireland to the unknown world of New York to pursue a better life. Growing A Farmer Post #2 Growing A Farmer  was a wonderful book to read and I think I enjoyed it as much as I did because I have a passion for food. I admire the pride that the author has for his Cookhouse and farm proclaiming, "I bought this house; now I own this house and I own this land". I have no intention of owning a farm in the future, but I love how responsible and attentive he is to his land. I pursue to carry the same kind of attitude in my studies, internships, and future job. His fall/ winter menu for the Cookhouse reminds me of the comfort food at one of my favorite restaurants, Milo and Olive. The Cookhouse's description of "Tagliatelle noodles, butter, fava beans, cippolini onions", makes me think about Milo and Olive's savory pasta dishes. I like how he describes how his Cookhouse is a place for people who miss their family dinners or who have never had a family dinner. It reminded me of the times I have served at my church with feedi...
Children’s Ministry Leader Being in a children’s ministry is so much more than just being a babysitter. My job requires my complete attention and effort. I must serve as a light to the children and guide them to their own unique paths with Jesus. I am not only someone they look up to, but also their friend. I have to be enthusiastic and make the best out of the short time I have with the kids. I have a responsibility to help raise these children in the Lord. A Children’s Ministry Leader is a person who teaches the Word of God to children while creating a fun environment for them. I minister to and lead the children at Real Life Church in Santa Clarita, California. I keep track of all the children and take care of them. I lead them to “Big Circle “, where I am involved in sharing the daily message and in singing worship songs. My job calls me to be creative in constructing and implementing craft time. I spend most of my time engaging and connecting with each unique child....
